Core Engineering
The YEH-98L isn't a lifestyle grinder. It's a precision instrument — designed around the principles that drive professional café equipment, scaled for the single-dose workflow.
An independent spindle built with precision angular contact bearings delivers micron-level runout tolerance. Consistent burr gap means consistent particle distribution — every single dose.
Micron-level runoutThe internal leveling mechanism is factory-set and stays fixed through burr changes and cleaning — no recalibration required. Disassemble the top in seconds with four screws.
Zero recal on burr swapA custom-wound brushless motor with Field-Oriented Control keeps torque stable from 300 to 2000 RPM — no speed sag under load. Tune RPM for espresso density or pour-over clarity.
FOC · 300–2000 RPMEach click moves the burr gap by exactly 5 microns. Dial in espresso at setting 3 or open up to 10–11.5 for pour-over. The full 200-step range covers Turkish to cold brew.
5μm per clickSingle-dose grinding demands near-zero retention. The YEH-98L's internal geometry and low-static output channel keep waste under 0.1g without fans, water sprays, or ionizers.
True single doseThe integrated aluminum body dissipates heat 15× faster than stainless steel, protecting grind temperature and flavor. Internal burr seats are SUS304 for longevity and food safety.
Thermal controlGrind Precision
The finest espresso grinders on the market move in increments of 10–20 microns. The YEH-98L moves in 5. That's the difference between chasing a shot and dialing one in.
The "coarse → fine" adjustment principle applies: always approach your target from the coarser side, reducing in small steps for the most precise and repeatable positioning.
Burr Compatibility
The YEH-98L ships with the Lebrew 98 magnetic blind burr and is compatible with a broad ecosystem of 98mm and 102mm flat burr options.
The standard magnetic blind burr. Optimized for Italian-style espresso shots with dense, saturated body and classic sweetness.
ESPRESSO · MOKA · RISTRETTO
Hand-pour optimized burr geometry. Enhanced clarity and brightness for V60, Chemex, Kalita, and other filter methods.
POUR OVER · DRIP · AEROPRESS
The balanced option — medium-shallow roast profile. Bridges espresso and filter with a versatile grind character.
MILK DRINKS · MEDIUM ROAST
Both magnetic and keyed (holed) burr formats are supported. Switching to 102mm burrs requires an adapter seat (available separately).
UPGRADE PATH
Supports SSP 98hu / lu / ultra / ls / brew burr sets for those who want to go further. SSP burrs are widely regarded as a top-tier aftermarket upgrade.
HIGH-UNIFORMITY · COMPETITION
The magnetic blind burr system enables burr swaps in under a minute — no alignment tools needed, no recalibration required after reinstallation.
FAST SWAP · ZERO RECAL
Drive System
Most grinders at this price use off-the-shelf motors running open-loop. The YEH-98L runs a custom-wound brushless motor paired with FOC (Field-Oriented Control) — the same principle used in industrial servo drives.
The result is constant torque across the full RPM range. Whether you're pulling a 20g espresso at 1200 RPM or running a pour-over dose at 400 RPM, the burrs don't slow down mid-grind.
Grind Guide
These are starting points for the included Lebrew 98 burr. Adjust by 0.5–1 setting at a time and note that light roasts generally grind finer, dark roasts coarser at the same dial position.
| Brew Method | Grind Setting | RPM Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Espresso (Italian) | ~3Standard dial | 1000–1500 RPM | Dense, low-void grind. Fine-tune extraction time in 0.5 increments. |
| Espresso (Medium–Light) | ~2–4Adjust for roast | 1200–1600 RPM | Light roasts extract faster — go finer. Expect longer dial-in with new coffees. |
| Moka Pot | ~4–6Between espresso/filter | 800–1200 RPM | Slightly coarser than espresso prevents channel pressure buildup. |
| Pour Over / V60 | ~10–11.5Hand-pour range | 200–700 RPM | Lower RPM preserves clarity and brightness in filter cups. Adjust for flow rate. |
| French Press | ~14–16Coarse | 300–600 RPM | Coarser grinds reduce fines in the cup. Use lower RPM for even particle distribution. |
| Cold Brew | ~16–20Very coarse | 300–500 RPM | Long steep time (12–24h) calls for very coarse grind to avoid over-extraction. |
Technical Specifications
Cleaning & Maintenance
The YEH-98L is built to be cleaned — not just used. Four screws give you full access to both burrs and the grind chamber. No tools beyond the included hex key set.
Unplug the power cable from the rear panel before touching any components.
Detach the press-air hopper and discharge chute from the body.
Use the included hex key to remove the four top screws, exposing the full burr assembly.
Use a small brush or handheld vacuum to clear all grind residue. Wipe mating surfaces with a dry cloth.
Align the top section vertically and lock down four screws. Reattach chute and hopper.
After-Sales Service
All manufacturing defects covered for 12 months from purchase — including motor failure, switch faults, and abnormal grinding performance. Consumables (burrs, brush) covered for 3 months.
Domestic customers receive free round-trip shipping and repair during the warranty period. International customers cover return freight and customs; repair labor is complimentary.
Even after warranty expiry, YEHJEN provides paid repair service with genuine parts. Technical support line: 18144652589. Service hours: Mon–Fri, 9:00–18:00 (CST).
