This insulated meat resting bag is a fantastic, dedicated solution for the critical resting phase of low-and-slow smoking. At 21 inches wide, it offers plenty of internal volume to hold a full-packer beef brisket, large pork shoulders, or multiple racks of ribs without crowding. The build quality is very solid throughout:Insulation and Heat Retention: The thermal foil lining traps heat and steam effectively, keeping large roasts piping hot for several hours while the juices redistribute.Heavy Duty Hardware: The 270 degree wrap-around zipper glides smoothly around the corners and opens wide enough to slide wrapped cuts in and out without tearing butcher paper or disturbing the bark.Easy Maintenance: The interior foil wipes clean quickly with a damp cloth if any juices escape the wrap, and the water- and oil-resistant exterior fabric protects against grease stains.Portability: The reinforced webbing carry handles make transporting hot meat from the smoker to the kitchen or backyard serving station secure, and the entire bag folds flat for easy drawer storage when finished.Having a dedicated, foldable thermal bag beats sacrificing a large beverage cooler or dirtying extra kitchen towels. It delivers reliable insulation, strong stitching, and great utility for barbecue cookouts.
This barbecue blanket arrives in a nice box, that includes instructions. It also has a roll of butcher paper.Knowing that I will probably never purchase butcher paper again, I went ahead and did what I normally do which is dish up my burgers into a glass pan, and cover them with a silicone mat. The silicone mat helps retain the heat. Sometimes I put them in the oven on warm other times. I just leave them on the table.Tonight, I put the meat in a 10x10 glass pan, and set the pan in the bag (BBQ Blanket) and zipped it closed. After my loaf of French bread finished heating (in the store bag that it came in) on the barbecue grill, I put that in the bag too. When I unzipped the barbecue blanket and opened the lid to put in the French bread, I was amazed at how much heat came out of the bag. I quickly added the bread and zip it closed.I took another 20 minutes before the family arrived at the dinner table. After everybody had prepped their plates with their hotdog and hamburger buns, and all the condiments, I then unzipped the bag. I was pleasantly surprised at how much heat was still inside the bag. It’s not often that I get a hot hamburger, that’s not dried out.The large opening makes it really easy to get the food in and out of the bag. Because my meat was sitting inside of a pan, cleanup was super fast. I needed to clean up the steam that had condensed on the inside of the bag into water droplets, and that was it. So after quick wipe down with clean cloth, I hung it over a chair to dry, and then folded it up, and put it away. When I was moving it from the barbecue grill outside into the house, I did have to place my hand on the bottom of the bag, because there’s no solid board inside, keeping it flat. Since I only barbecue two or three times a month, I guess it’s worth it to me, to not have something hard sitting in the bottom of the bag. The trade off is that it is easy to fold it up and store it.
I know that this was designed for keeping meat warm while it's resting and I am sure it does a good job of that. I wanted it for difference uses though. Our community has regular potlucks and whenever we take a hot dish, it's always cold by the time we get to the picnic area and then wait for everyone to gather. Also, when we make a lasagna we never let it rest for 15-20 minutes to set up since it always begins to cool down. So, I thought this world be good for that - and it is.It will hold a 9x13 inch lasagna pan with space left over and it will keep things warm. So, we can take hot dish to a potluck and it will still stay hot on the drive to the picnic area. Plus we can let the lasagna sit in the bag and set up without getting too cold.
Why I Love ItThe 5‑layer thermal lock keeps brisket, ribs or steaks warm and juicy while they rest, preserving moisture beautifully. The leakproof construction handles even the oiliest cuts without dripping, keeping your counter clean. The 270° wide opening makes loading and unloading effortless, especially when handling hot trays or butcher paper. The durable black exterior looks sharp and wipes clean easily after use.ConsiderationsThe interior should be fully dried after use to maintain longevity.Overall, this BBQ resting blanket is practical, sturdy and ideal for any pitmaster. With its thermal lock layers, leakproof build and wide opening.
One thing I've learned with smoking meat is that the food doesn't always cooperate with your planned serving time. I used this resting bag with pulled pork, and it worked great for holding the meat and keeping it at a good temperature until we were ready to eat.The large opening makes it easy to get a big wrapped piece of meat in and out, and there's plenty of room inside. I also like that this kit includes butcher paper, so you have what you need for wrapping as well as resting. This is especially useful when cooking for a party. I can get the meat finished and resting, then use that extra time to get the sides, tables, and everything else ready before guests arrive instead of trying to time everything down to the minute.I somehow have a collection of meat resting bags now, but this is definitely one I'll be keeping with my smoker supplies. It worked exactly as I hoped.
