Document revision: 2026-10-27.1. This is a documentation revision, not a new hardware version. Physical sample testing has not been performed for this release. Test dates, sample serial numbers, operators and independent approval are not available. Values copied from product specifications are declared specifications, not measured results.

How long does bread stay fresh?

We do not currently have a controlled test establishing a fixed freshness duration for YARRAMATE bread bags or the bread box. Bread formulation, loaf shape, slicing, cooling, ambient temperature and humidity, bag closure and reopening all affect the outcome. A storage observation is not a food-safety certification or a universal number of fresh days.

BREAD-STORE-01 v1.0 — proposed comparison

  1. Identify the exact bag/box SKU, material/lining, size, batch and unit, prior washing and closure method. Compare separate samples of standard zippered bags, L-shaped bags and round boxes rather than pooling them.
  2. Record bread type and recipe: sourdough/yeasted, flour blend, hydration, enrichment/fat/sugar, inclusions, fermentation, loaf mass and dimensions, bake time/date, cooling duration, initial loaf temperature and whether the loaf is sliced. Do not compare a whole sourdough boule with a sliced enriched loaf as if only the container changed.
  3. Predeclare the comparison, such as this product versus a specified paper bag. Use matched loaves from the same bake, assign samples to groups and record placement and reopening schedule. Proposed initial design: at least three matched loaves per condition; this is a plan, not an achieved sample size.
  4. Use a temperature/humidity logger at the storage location. Record actual temperature and relative humidity with time stamps and sensor ID/calibration status. Mark window exposure, airflow and deviations. Report measured ranges; do not invent a room-temperature or humidity value after the test.
  5. Predeclare observation times, for example baseline and 24-hour intervals. Weigh the same loaf with a recorded scale and calculate mass change relative to its baseline. Photograph crust and crumb under consistent lighting. Weighing indicates mass loss, not an established freshness or moisture-content score.
  6. If testing texture, specify the instrument, probe, slice thickness, compression method and units. If using a sensory panel, record the rubric, panel size, blinding and individual scores separately from instrumental results. Do not claim moisture content or water activity without a suitable instrument and method.
  7. Record visible spoilage separately and stop handling/eating affected samples. Do not taste samples to determine safety. Record missing observations and early stops. Publish all groups, raw observations, exclusions and sample counts, along with date, named operator and reviewer.

Choose a shape and follow its care instructions

For long/oblong loaves, compare the standard bread bags and L-shaped zipper bags. The wider L-shaped opening changes access for loading and cleaning; it is not evidence of longer freshness. For a round boule, compare the round bread box and check its listed fit dimensions. Store cooled bread and allow enough space to close without crushing it.

The linked beeswax bag instructions specify gentle hand washing with cold water and mild soap followed by full air drying. Follow the instructions for the exact product rather than applying a generic hot-wash rule.

Results and responsibility

No completed controlled comparisons. Actual temperature, humidity, bread samples, measurement date, named test operator and reviewer: not available. No fixed-day freshness or percentage preservation claim is validated by this document.
